We Give A Fuck: A New Take on the LGBTTQQIIAA Acronym

Okay guys I’m gonna be real for a second.

So that alphabet soup of an acronym for lgbtqaaiwhateverthefrick+ is getting a little out of hand. And if you keep adding more letters to it to please more people, double of that is going to come asking for a bandage on their butthurt and demanding a letter of their very own.

Why don’t we just call it WEGAF, ‘We Give A Fuck.’ We do not care who you are, what you identify as, or where you came from; we give a fuck about you as a person and what rights you should have as a human being.

This is a post my sister wrote on her tumblr that I feel should be shared with the world. There is also another post here that discusses a similar idea. I figured I would share it with you guys because, like I said, it’s something that I would like to see more widely discussed. What do you guys think? Let me know! 🙂

this essentially makes sense, i just think the suggested replacement acronym is unintentionally disrespectful by minimizing peoples’ identities.

    • The whole point of the acronym is to be all inclusive regardless of identity. It doesn’t make your identity any less important, it’s just that your identity does not determine whether or not you are included in the group of people. The whole idea behind it is that it’a difficult to find a single letter for every single different identity in the acronym, so just wipe the slate clean and include everyone. Everyone deserves someone who cares about them and recognizes them as a human being regardless of identity. That’s the point of this. Regardless of identity, everyone is human and all humans deserve to be recognized and cared for equally.
